Mr Ashok Kumar came to Switzerland many years ago. He gained his first experience as a cook in India and later in France (Paris). He soon realised that this was his passion, which he was then able to consolidate, develop and refine in various restaurants in Switzerland (Basel and Zurich). Various courses, an apprenticeship as a professional cook in Basel and later a licence as a restaurant manager further opened the doors to his career.
As head chef and restaurant manager at the “Milchhüsli” in Basel and the “Taj Mahal” in Zurich, he was able to give his guests a culinary insight into Indian cuisine and his local creations. With a great deal of passion and pleasure in working with fresh food and a wide variety of spices, he would now like to bring “Ashok’s Indian cuisine and creations” a little closer to the guests at the Zaika India restaurant.

About the Restaurant Waldisberg
The restaurant Waldisberg looks back on a long history: The house stands in Freienbach, on the southern shore of Lake Zurich and at the foothill of Etzel, and was built in 1827 (this date is carved in stone at the entrance). In 1890, a restaurant was established and is in operation ever since.
In its long tradition, it has served countless guests from near and far. During the years, the cuisine in the Waldisberg changed again and again: from traditional Swiss to European to Asian specialities. Today, the Waldisberg spoils you with “Zaika India” – the taste of India!
We are proud to continue the tradition of Restaurant Waldisberg. Our team will do everything to make you feel at home in “Waldisberg” and guarantees an excellent authentic Indian cuisine.
